Paper Tiger Collective Members being serious
Being funny
Alex Barrows
Alex Barrows was born under the sign of Sagittarius and was raised in Berkeley, CA. She recently graduated from Smith College and moved to Brooklyn, NY. An avid crafter, Alex is working on a calendar of drag queens and continues to make a 'zine where she does illustrations of excerpts taken from Craigslist's Missed Connections. Alex's love of grassroots media brought her to PTTV and animal-themed anything is good in her book.
Rebecca Centeno
Rebecca is from Texas where there's rocks, trees, and belt buckles. She's currently working on a film about a man who races pigeons. She likes documentaries (all kinds), warm weather, and riding her bike.
Mike N.
Mike is an artist. He believes everyone is an artist. He works as a graphic designer, and he likes spicy food.
Ariel Kavoussi
Ariel has spent her life swimming in New York city as a Blob fish. Currently a junior at Williams College, she blows bubbles in her philosophy and studio art classes escaping the underground caves, every now and then, to play at PaperTiger TV headquarters as the summer intern. In her tide pool, you'll find creatures like: alternative media, activism and video production.
Antonia Levy
Antonia joined PapertigerTV in 2007. She is a German transplant and a social justice activist for many years. In her free time she pursues a doctoral degree in sociology and teaches as an adjunct instructor at
the City University of New York, where she combines her research interests in feminism, queer theory, and political art and her media activism in classes on visual sociology.
Adrienne Silverman
Adrienne joined Paper Tiger in July. She is into video editing and duplication. She likes funky, artsy videos. She currently attends graduate school at the New School for media studies. She is an acquarius and loves sunshine and rainbows. She currently resides in Brooklyn, where she is from.

Marion Hunt
Marion Hunt joined paper tiger summer 2009. She is a student of film and video at Cooper Union, fusing radical activism and experimental filmmaking. She is currently working with her partner on a poem-documentary about new york bike collectives and their inadvertent role in gentrification. In her spare time, she bikes long distances,
eats delicious dumpstered grub, paints with wax, and practices the harmonica. An adorer of all things collective, she spends a lot of her time in community organizing and volunteering. She is interested in experimental travel, nomadic lifestyles, rewilding, grassroots historians, situationist international, and the new york underground.
Cris Shirley
Cris Shirley joined Paper Tiger in the bleak but blissful summer of 2009. Ze studies at Yale University majoring in environmental studies with a concentration in it's intersection with anthropology and using video to construct discourse. Ze is excited about radical activism and politics that inspire empowerment and direct action. Ze is
excited about working with Paper Tiger and Marion Hunt on their project of documenting bike collectives in New York.
Erin Smith
Erin suffers from acute wanderlust and unbridled curiosity. She believes strongly in Joan Didion, Arthur Russell and dyeing her hair in contrasting tones. Originally from Yucaipa, California, Erin is currently interested in androgyny, quantum physics, and aural mirages. In the future Erin might be an English teacher, will always be a writer and will definitely be the owner of a sandwich shop where hungry men from Capri will feast on eggplant and mozzarella paninis.
Adda Birnir
Adda hails from Iceland via the Golden State and recently discovered through an online personality test that she is an ENFP (Extraversion, iNtuition, Feeling, Perception). Adda holds no institution in higher esteem than the New York Public Library and has vowed to donate whatever she might have as an estate, post-mortem, to its preservation. The forefront of Adda's mind is a fecund wonderland that nurtures thoughts on Jehovah's Witnesses, the poetry of Edna St. Vincent Millay, computer programming (to be honest), and making the slow-food nation people stop eating their bougie organic food and start worrying about solving world hunger.
Sara Strahan
Sara Strahan, a self-identified Libra and UC Santa Cruz graduate, originally hails from the Windy City (that?s Chicago) by the whirlwind way of Japan; she now resides in New York where she is a New School graduate student in Media Studies. She is an avid supporter of community and youth media; as a collective member of Paper Tiger, she would like to continue making critical, non-commercial media in fun, thoughtful ways. Sara enjoys swimming and strongly recommends Red Hook Pool as a sweet swimming spot. In addition to swimming, Sara also greatly enjoys karaoke; she currently ranks ?Total Eclipse of the Heart? and ?You?re So Vain? as her top two favorite performing songs.
Maria Juliana Byck
Maria Juliana Byck has been a member of PTTV since 2004. She is currently working on the PTTV history project, a documentary about the 25-year history of PTTV including interviews, archival footage and funky fun creative video shorts. After college she lived abroad for 5 years, traveling in Asia, Africa, South American and Europe. Maria is currently a student in the Media Studies Masters program at the New School and works in experimental video, enjoys biking, sewing, painting, swimming, traveling and dancing.
Barbara Ophoff
Barbara is working hard to invent a beam machine to make the commute between the cities she loves (Berlin and New York) easier. She dreams about being a radical feminist anarchist SciFi author. In real life she loves video editing and creating videos about issues that matter. Her power animal is a Lama (what ever that means).
Rebecca Giordano
Rebecca Giordano has been with Paper Tiger since November 2003. She has spent most of her time helping to organize the NYC Grassroots Media Conferences. Outside of Paper Tiger, she helped to found a youth media project in her home neighborhood of Sunset Park, Brooklyn, and is currently working to found a small school there as well. Rebecca loves to teach, cook and ride her bicycle.
Laurel Heisman
Laurel Heisman has been a member of Paper Tiger since 2004. By day Laurel is a mild-mannered producer at a Graphic Design company, but by night she is a rowdy Tiger full of myth-smashing energy. Laurel likes to spend her spare time making small tigers out of clay, painting things orange and hanging out with her husband and her dog.
lida Shao
lida Shao has been with Paper Tiger since Fall 2006. She is a active community member and radical dreamer with roots in China and core in New York City; body in movement, mind in peace and spirit in transformation. She works with youth in Sunset Park, makes films, eats a lot, and organizes herself and her loves towards liberation. She likes to putter, play piano, do martial arts, and build home. She is gardening, composting and hopes to raise 2 chickens. Sometimes she is still.
