On September 21, 2014, hundreds of thousands of people from around the world gathered in New York City to march for environmental justice and use people’s power to pressure world leaders to act against climate change ahead of the UN Climate Summit.
Before the People’s Climate March, bike enthusiasts gathered in Tompkins Square Park to prepare to ride in the march as part of the Bike Bloc. Community members discussed rights as a cyclist, how to ride in a group, learned bike choreography and decorated their bikes for an illuminated ride to the UN. The Bike Bloc promotes bikes as part of the solution to fight the global climate crisis with positive people power.
