On September 21, 2014, hundreds of thousands of people from around the world gathered in New York City to march for environmental justice and use people’s power to pressure world leaders to act against climate change ahead of the UN Climate Summit.
On the Saturday before the march, Bread and Puppet Theater put on a pageant version of their “Anti Tar Sands Manifesto”. Company members talk about the importance of art as a tool for organizing for social change while engaging the community with issues surrounding the tar sand struggle affecting indigenous communities and caribou herds in Canada.
