  • ABC NO RIO Survives, Fifth Street Buried Alive

PTTV broadcasts this live discussion with the displaced squatters of 5th St. after the city demolition of their building. Speakers include Indymedia documentary film-maker and political activist the late Brad Will as well as squatter activists Shawnee Alexandri, Jason Fitzsimmons, Corinne Bordeaux, Steven Englander, Frank Morales and Kurt Allerslev. In presenting their views, the squatters levy a powerful interrogation of, not only Giuliani’s draconian clean up policies, but also the exorbitant Manhattan real estate prices that have made their style of life all the more necessary. This video is a perfect example of the complex and often violent battle for space and ownership that is constantly being waged throughout New York City.
