Bill Tabb Reads Forbes: Capitalist Fool
Bill Tabb examines capitalism through the lens of the money magazine Forbes. Forbes markets itself as the “Capitalist Tool” founded on doing and doings, and is a collection of business success stories, marketing advice, get-rich-quick schemes and exclusive exposés celebrating the lavish lifestyles of rich businessmen. Modeled around creator and owner of the magazine, Malcolm S. Forbes, it serves as an advertisement for capitalism, shedding away the moral aspects of business in lieu of glorifying its sweet capitalist successes. Forbes simultaneously caters to and creates a network of business insiders, a separate sect of society who are celebrated for manipulating the public and investors into making them rich. **Tabb taught Economics at Queens College in New York City.
