D.I.Y. MicroPower Radio Workshop
In 1998, as the deregulatory fervor following passage of the 1996 Telecommunications Act allowed further consolidation of radio station ownership, low-power FM stations took to the air and to the road to spread their message of community radio. Join programmers and DJs from Philadelphia’s ‘Radio Mutiny’ and New York City’s ‘Steal This Radio’ as they lay out the history of regional, non-corporate radio, in a hands-on workshop explaining how to operate the tools of this democratic medium and also build a collective base of support to meet the various needs of our communities.
