East Timor: Turning a Blind Eye
East Timor is under attack by the Indonesian military and the atrocities there compare to Pol Pot’s Cambodia. This tape examines why it is that we receive very little information about this conflict. East Timorese student activists and resistance leader Constantio Pinto, together with WBAI reporters Allan Nairn, Amy Goodman and Charlie Scheiner, tell of the impact of the Indonesian invasion and the occupation of East Timor, analyzing U.S. policy and the role of the media in helping America to turn a blind eye on the war and bloodshed.
