PTTV Responds to the Middle East Situation
This documentary provides an unsettling déjà vu of US policy in the Middle East in 1990. Paper Tiger Television takes its camera inside a meeting of the Coalition to Stop US intervention in the Middle East. Lawyers, Vietnam Veterans and community activists take the podium to voice their outrage over the approaching Gulf War or “War for Oil.” Each speaker covers a wide range of important topics from US oil dependence and the development of alternative fuels, to war resistance and conscientious objection, to the growth in military spending and the erosion of social services and domestic funds. This tape is a brave look into the earlier hypocrisies of US policy in Iraq and it is a much-needed reminder that voices of reason still have power even amidst such seemingly inescapable chaos.
