Resounding the obtuse nature of our current political situation, PTTV Invades “Amerika” analyzes the insulating effect of the mainstream media’s presentation of Cold War politics in the Regan Era. This satirical piece takes the guise of an ABC 20/20 feature in which PTTV members dress up—Barbara Walters’ wig and all, to parody the network’s polarizing representation of global politics. Pointed satirical dialogue and playful caricature give way to the disturbing realization that aesthetics and politics have become almost inseparable in the “soap-opera” that is the nightly news. This PTTV features the hilarious Plutonium Players: Sharon Harrinton, Janice Heiss, Cathy Lerza, Mary Milton, Selma Spector, Jeff Thompson, and Gail Williams.
