On June 1st protestors gathered in front of the White House for George Floyd and all those killed by police. In response Trump held a press conference calling for “law and order” and the protest was teargassed. He threatened to use The Insurrection Act if states couldn’t control their own populations.

On the 1 year anniversary of the Tree of Life Massacre, a coalition of antifascists are mobilized for a day of unity against anti-Semitism and white nationalism in Union Square Park. They centered communities currently facing racial and colonial violence from New York City to Kurdistan to Kashmir.
A Coalition of NYC activist groups led by Movimiento Cosecha called Close the Camps, marched through Midtown on September 14th. Protestors shutdown the flagship store for Microsoft, which contracts with ICE chanting, “This is the price for business with ICE” and called on the company to divest. In July 2019 the NDP (New Democracy Party) came to power in Greece. They have begun repression against activists throughout the country, and Exarchia, the anarchist neighborhood in central Athens, is their primary target. Police have begun circling and escalating evictions. The cost of this move is the loss of spaces like ADYE, a self organized clinic treating the poor and refugees.

On June 10th, a coalition of LGBTQIA organizations including the Anti-Violence Project, Sylvia Rivera Law Project, and VOCAL NY, called a rally for Layleen Polanco Xtravaganza, who was found dead in her prison cell at Rikers Island the previous week.

On May 31st 2019 there was a global day of action in solidarity with the Zapatistas. Over 34 cities participated, and in NYC, a group of activists held a rally in front of the Mexican Consulate. They called attention to the hypocrisy of the Mexican government, which says it supports the EZLN, but is complicit in their murders.

On the morning of March 16th, a committed crew of climate activists from the Rainforest Action Network and Extinction Rebellion took on Chase Bank, the largest investor in fossil fuels, including recent pipeline construction. They erected a tripod in the middle of Midtown in front of Chase Headquarters, and held the intersection, disrupting business as usual. They demanded that Chase stop funding fossil fuels and that we have a future.

Lyft and Uber are going public, and the workers are waking up to their conditions. Some work 70-80 hour weeks for less than minimum wage, with few protections as contractors. The queer and feminist working group, Anfem, of MACC (Metropolitan Anarchist Coordinating Council) with a network of supporters was organizing court support for Anna Chambers, a woman who was raped by the NYPD for the last two years. The wall along what is known as the U.S./Mexico border has been a heated topic since Trump began running for president. Now, with funding from Congress, and additional federal funds being allocated for the wall, construction is actually under way, cutting through the borderlands. This video captures the emerging network of resistance, and meditates on imaginary lines drawn by nations, communities, and ourselves.
